Folk Club

We run the Morris Folk Club on the last Tuesday of most months (excepting December and some other holiday months). Entry is free, and all are warmly welcome.

Morris Folk Club runs 7.30pm-10.30pm-ish. We are currently holding it where we rehearse, in St Barnabas Mission upper hall (entrance in courtyard), Shacklewell Row, Dalston E8 2EA. Drinks and snacks are not for sale, but you are welcome to bring your own. Unfortunately there is no disabled access to the hall.

Check Twitter and Facebook for information on what's happening this month, not least in case of cancellations or special themes, or sign up to the Morris emailing list.

Our Folk Club runs from 7.30pm till 10/10.30pm, and generally follows an open, floor performers/singers night format. You can just listen, and sing along, if you like, or you can perform. Let the MC know if you'd like to sing or play something - it's typically up to one item per half, time permitting. It's always a very appreciative audience - and, if you're worried about that kind of thing (which you shouldn't be), a supportive and forgiving one too.

A unique part of Morris Folk Club is that it incorporates elements of 'open choir rehearsal', when anyone can get a taste of singing with the choir, as during the evening we all together learn a song or two or go over an old favourite.

If you would like to get an idea of what kind of things get sung/played at Morris Folk Club, take a look at the 'setlists' page (which also, incidentally, fairly well reflects the typical male/female ratio of performers and audience members at our club).

Online folk club: We continued to run Morris Folk Club online through most of 2020 and 2021, which was a popular success, particularly as friends were able to attend who weren't usually able to. We hope to continue to have occasional, additional online folk clubs on other nights. Please do sign up to the Morris emailing list to keep in touch with news about this, and to receive online invite links.
